This archival record preserves what we know of that life, from the garment or textile it once was to the materials, construction, wear, repairs, and traces of use that remained when it arrived at The Mourning Stitch.

Some histories are well documented; others can only be understood through the marks left behind. Rather than erasing those traces, they are recorded as part of the cloth’s continuing story here.
